Harry had agreed to yet another chore which wasn’t a surprise to him or the elder lady who asked he assumed. She was so kind to him that there wasn’t anyway he could say no, granted he rarely if ever said no to helping someone. It was a passion he had, if he could help someone than there really was no reason for him not too. Everyone would need a hand someday and Harry was willing to be there when needed. Especially something small like returning an overdue library book. It wasn’t like he was being asked to fight a lion or boar, heaven knows where those ideas came from. This would be over pretty quickly and he could go about the rest of his afternoon.
Once in the library it was noticeably quiet, libraries should be Harry guessed but it just seemed a little too quiet. Possibly he just liked having at least a little noise in his life and this silence was just eerie to him. He could use that as the excuse to why he rarely came here but the truth was he just couldn’t sit still long enough to be in the library. Finding the basket for returned books near the a desk Harry placed the book with them. “Mission complete.” He said with a small smirk as he turned quickly to leave. He was just in time to walk into one of the carts with many books on them.
He tried his best to catch it but the cart fell with a loud bam which echoed through the library. Books soon scattered a crossed the floor and into air. At this point he just closed his eyes and waited for the sound of falling and flying books to stop. “Sorry, sorry. I’m sorry.” Harry repeated as he finally opened eyes to see the mess. “D-don’t worry, I got this.” He said out loud not sure just how many people were hear but if anyone was they were bound to hear that. He began to pick up the mess he had made as his face turned just as red as his hair for a moment.

Meredith's lunch hour wasn't particularly long, but then again since she was in charge of the pawn shop, she could take however long of a lunch as she wanted. Today she decided to spend her lunch hour (or at least part of it) in the library. She was skimming through the books, running her fingers along the spines as she walked down the aisle, when she heard a crashing sound not too far away. Curious, she moved to the end of the row, smirking a little at what she saw. A young man, frantically trying to pick up a bunch of books. She took a few steps forward, picking up two books that were close to her. "Hey, calm down," she said in a low, soothing voice. "What's life without a few bumps into the book cart?" She chuckled, thinking herself clever as she extended the books she'd gathered so he could take them when he was good and ready to. "I'm Meredith," she added after a moment. "I run the pawn shop down the street. What's your name?" Even though Meredith might not be the best at names, she was quite sure she'd be able to place a name to him, since his red hair stood out so much. That would definitely be hard for her to forget. Harry attempted to pick up the many books that fell as quickly as he could. The sooner he could get this straightened out the less chance there was that someone would see that he was the one who caused it. Yet that wouldn’t work very well as not to soon after he knocked everything over did someone approach him. He didn’t notice the woman getting closer till she tried to calm him down. Harry looked up to the woman as she also made a joke trying to still help him calm down he assumed. Harry got out an awkward laugh for a moment before taking the few books she had also collected and putting them in his pile. “Thanks, I just feel bad that I probably disturbed everyone’s reading and yours too I assume.” He explained while getting the last couple books.
The woman introduced herself as Meredith and that she ran the pawn shop, a place Harry couldn’t remember ever going to. He didn’t really buy much for himself nor did he ever have anything to sell it seemed. “It’s nice to meet you Meredith, I’m Harry.” He introduced himself wondering for a second if this was one of those times he offered his hand or didn’t. Introductions were an awkward situation especially for someone as odd as himself he felt. “Thanks again for the help, sorry if I disturbed whatever you were doing. I was just supposed to be returning someone’s book for them and I ended up knocking other books all over the place.” Harry attempted to explain what had happened even if he began to feel it was obvious toward the end.

Meredith shook her head as the boy said he felt bad. She waved a hand dismissively in front of her, shaking her head at the same time, "No, you're really just fine. I'm pretty sure no one else is here right now and I wasn't even looking at a book yet. I was just wandering the library." She smiled, trying to put the boy at ease. He seemed very ... anxious about this? At least, more worried about disturbing others than she expected from most teenagers. Maybe he was more aware of others than most teenagers. Interesting. She nodded as the boy introduced himself. "Harry. Nice name," she said, shaking her head as he apologized again. "Really, you weren't even a bother," she insisted. "I just came here because I have a lunch hour and didn't know what else to do with it." Meredith shrugged. She didn't want to make him feel more worried. "So where are you off to?" she asked. Meredith wasn't exactly trying to keep the conversation going, but at the same time it was. She liked talking to people, and he didn't seem to mind so why not talk just a little longer. If he had to go somewhere, she wouldn't stand in his way. Harry Clark Donovan
