Jack was sitting on the edge of the wishing well, tapping his hands on the stone like he would if it were a drum. Where was Evan? They got out of school ages ago and it was finally the weekend and Jack couldn't just sit around. That wasn't his way. Neither was waiting, to be completely honest, but there really wasn't much he could do about that right now. He and Evan planned to meet right here, after they dropped their things off at home. It was annoying, but there wasn't much he could do about it. His parents insisted on knowing where he was before he went places. If only he could be truly free. That was much easier said than done, especially as a kid on a small island like this. After a bit, Jack stood up and walked around the edge of the fountain, balancing on the edge to keep himself entertained. It wasn't too hard, but at least it kept him moving. He whistled as he walked around, focused on his footing instead of looking around for his friend now. The other people passing by the fountain ignored him. Even if they didn't know Jack personally, they'd probably heard stories of his restless and sometimes reckless behavior. Most people didn't seek out interactions with him. "Evaaaaaaaan," he moaned after a while, frowning as he started another lap around the edge of the fountain. Ugh, he was not patient enough for this sort of thing. Evan had until he finished this lap to get here or Jack was going to go look for him. evan blue flounders

Normally, Evan would go straight home after school everyday and sit in his room reading or playing video games until his mom made him come down for dinner. It took a lot of convincing to get him to agree to go out after a long day, which almost every day was when it came to school. School was exhausting. But at least it was finally the weekend! That was why Evan had agreed to go out with his friend and classmate Jack after classes that day, he knew he'd have the next two days to recharge from all his socializing. They had agreed to meet at the wishing well after school that day, so once Evan got out of French class, he headed in that direction, maybe a little slower than normal. He finally made it there to see his friend Jack dramatically walking along the edge of the fountain while calling his name. Evan laughed, which was also half of a sigh, and walked over. "You don't have to be so loud." he teased and waved for his friend to jump down before he started to cause a scene. JACKSON CARTER FRYE

It was a relief when he finally heard his friend laughing from somewhere behind him. Jack was halfway done with his last lap around the well and glad that he wasn't going to have to search for Evan. It was much simpler to meet the guy here, where they planned. Also, Jack considered it a good thing that Evan was already laughing. A good omen for the fun they were about to have, in his opinion. He stopped, turning to face his friend and jumping down from his perch on the well. "There you are!" he grinned at his friend. Then he rolled his eyes, "I'm only loud because you're late, you know. I'm not good at all the waiting around for people, as you're fully aware." He jumped so he was sitting on the edge of the fountain now, looking at his friend curiously. "Sooooo what are you in the mood for today? Wanna explore the forest, go on a walk, make up a new game? It's all up to you!" He gave his friend the choice today to try and be nice. He knew Evan was more introverted and didn't want to overwhelm him. That'd make the day much less fun than he wanted it to be. evan blue flounders

Sometimes, Evan wasn’t sure how he was friends with Jack. They were completely opposite people. Jack was confident and easy going, and Evan and skittish and liked to plan out everything before it even began. Maybe they balanced one another out, but Evan found it more likely they would just annoy one another. However, that hadn’t happened yet . “Well you know if you leave it up to me I’d be playing video games in the comfort of my bedroom with the curtains shut.” Evan was a pale young man and tended to burn a lot easier and quicker than his friend, who spent a lot more time out in the island sun than he did. He wasn’t suggesting that they actually do that, however, he knew it wasn’t Jack’s thing and he didn’t want to force his friend into his cave. His cave probably wasn’t suitable for guests at the moment anyway. JACKSON CARTER FRYE

Jack rolled his eyes when Evan said that if the choice was his, he'd be playing games in his bedroom. "That isn't a choice. This is something we're doing together." He smirked, thoughts coming quickly. "Are you sure you want me to decide what we do? If you let me choose, I won't let you back out of it." Jack's voice was sing-songy as he waited to hear what his friend would say. Really, Evan had 2 choices: choose something he didn't really mind doing with Jack, or let Jack lead them into something that was definitely out of his comfort zone. Jack was honestly good with either, though he was already concocting schemes ... if Evan would let him play that out it might be fun. evan blue flounders
