Phillip looked out at the sea as he waited for Jane to arrive. The two of them spoke a few days ago, and that was when he discovered that she was interested in learning how to ride a horse. Since he had so many in his care- and quite a few of them that he owned himself- he offered to teach her and the young woman seemed very interested. So they decided to meet today at the beach. He'd brought his own horse, Samson, along with another named Maximillian. Maximillian was a great animal, who could be very gentle when the occasion demanded, like it did today. He offered the horses each a carrot, holding onto their reigns lightly as he glanced up and down the beach again. Nope. Nothing in sight yet. "It's all right boys. Maybe she got stuck somewhere, or forgot the time or something," he said, reaching up to pat their noses in turn, smiling. Even if Jane didn't end up coming, he was with his horses, and actually out of the stable, which was a nice thing. He was determined to enjoy this time. He turned and started looking out across the water, whistling a familiar tune. He couldn't place where he knew it from, but it seemed almost second nature to him. Almost as if it were something out of a dream. As he looked out, he found himself distracted, not hearing the woman as she approached him. JANE MARIE PORTER

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WAS SAVED BY A FLYING, WILD MAN IN A LOIN CLOTH [attr="class","next"] Jane was more of an animal person than she was a human person. The latter was less likely to befriend her due to her infatuation with the animal kingdom. Plus, she seemed to fit in more outside of society than she did inside, and really, she didn’t understand why. Maybe something in her forgotten past would give a clue to what she felt and dealt with that made it so. But there were no clues around her home, and everyone else seemed to be in the same boat, everyone had just moved forward with their own respective lives. A few days ago, she had gotten in touch with a man named Phillip, the very man that owned a stable full of horses and had given her sense of interest in learning to ride the creatures. He was very quick to offer to teach her, and she was thankful, that, the two of them had offered up a time to meet at the Beachfront where he would show her. Sadly, for Jane, she had overslept that morning and her entire day was out of whack. Thus, when she finally showed up, she was a bit late but was thankful that he didn’t seem too frustrated with her delayed arrival. Appearing behind him, her bag over her shoulder, she let out a huff of breath as if she was running. “Sorry—sorry, my entire day was thrown into the gutter the moment I overslept. I’m not too late that you won’t teach me anymore, am I?” she questioned, biting her plump bottom lip.

Waiting for Jane to show up wasn't terrible. Phillip was a pretty patient guy and he actually liked the chance to relax and just be there with his horses without having anything else to do. He didn't need to run around and care for the other horses (since he wasn't at his stables), nor did he have any of the other responsibilities that were normally his. Not when he was out for an hour or so. The chance to teach someone to ride was also something he thoroughly enjoyed. He heard someone approaching and turned to see Jane. Phil smiled, shaking his head at her. "No, no don't worry about it. I've just been enjoying the fresh air and the sand under my feet," he told her honestly. He didn't want to make Jane feel guilty making him wait when he actually loved the chance to relax a little bit. "You're not too late at all. I have plenty of time to give you a lesson," he paused a second. "Are you ready to start now, or do you want a minute to catch your breath?" Honestly, what would one more minute matter in the scheme of things? Things at the stable were almost always slow so if he missed anyone he could simply come find them in the afternoon. [googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WAS SAVED BY A FLYING, WILD MAN IN A LOIN CLOTH [attr="class","next"]Philip, once he noticed her and her speaking had stopped, was quick to tell her that it was okay that she was late. She let out a visible sigh of relief at that, she was scared for a minute that she would be reprimanded, but she had to remind herself she wasn’t at school and he wasn’t a mean guy. She laughed, “Sand under one's feet it a very interesting feeling,” she commented as he added that she wasn’t too late and that he had plenty of time that day to give her a lesson. She nodded her head, thankful that he was being so kind even though they barely knew each other beyond talking here and there to schedule riding lessons. She shook her head, “I don’t need to catch my breath,” she huffed out before smiling, excitement clear in her face, “I’m ready to go if you are.”

Phillip couldn't help but chuckle at how relieved Jane was. Did she really think he'd be angry that she was late? Everyone got busy with things sometimes, and real life was no reason to get mad at somebody. He hoped that maybe he could build their friendship so she wouldn't get so worried about things like this in the future. He shrugged a shoulder, teasing somewhat, "What, do you not like standing in the sand?" Phillip thought it was relaxing, but he supposed that not everyone thought that. Then he nodded when she said she was ready for her lesson. "Great. Okay, have you ever ridden a horse before, or is this just one of the first times?" There were different things he would tell her, depending on how she answered that question. If it was her first time ever riding, Phillip was definitely going to go into a little more detail on what she should do. JANE MARIE PORTER
