He countered a few of her points but she decided not to give him the satisfaction of fighting back. Maybe next time she'd win. Eventually she was sure she'd win at something and then it would be her time. Jack laughed at her reaction to the water on her face, which she had expected him to, she was sure that she looked so silly right now, flailing around on the sand with water on the face and chest. She was glad she had taken off her backpack before she laid down because he then jumped up and declared a water fight. He splashed her and she jumped up and ran into the water too, feeling already behind since he had got two good shots in already. Anna ran into the crashing waves, not really worried about getting her clothes wet, she leaned down and cupped water in her hands, splashing it up at Jack who was moving further out into the ocean. "That's not fair you got a head start." she teased, running further into the water as well. JACKSON CARTER FRYE

Anna's reactions to everything were just perfect. Her refusal to answer his teasing, her shrieking when he splashed her with water. It was all going exactly to plan. At least, it would be his plan if Jack were organized enough to actually plan things like this. The truth was, he just went along with his gut, doing anything that seemed like it would be fun. The great thing about Anna was that she went along with him and didn't ever disappoint him. He jumped to the side, dodging when she tried to splash water at him in retaliation. Yeah ... he wasn't going to let it be that easy for her. He kicked his leg up, sending more water in her direction as he danced further away, unable to stop himself from laughing. He was having a blast with this! "You snooze, you lose," he teased easily, slowing down just a little. He didn't want to be too far ahead of her. That would honestly ruin the game, especially if she decided it wasn't fun anymore and stopped trying. No, Jack had to make sure it stayed interesting. "Come on, Anna. You've got to try harder than that," he prodded. ANNA LEISLE LARSEN

He moved further away from her in the water after dodging her splashes, and while insisting that she had to do better than that. She laughed again, well, she was still laughing. She felt like she was always laughing around Jack. It wasn't a bad thing, no of course not, Anna loved to laugh and almost felt like any moment she wasn't laughing or having fun was a waste of the moment. She felt her clothes grow heavy as she followed Jack further into the water. She had to try better than that, okay then, she would give it all she had. So she ran at him, making a noise that was half a scream and half a giggle as she jumped up on him and wrapped her arms around his neck, trying to bring him down into the water. JACKSON CARTER FRYE

Anna couldn't stop laughing, which Jack considered a complete success. He loved making people laugh, and when he was able to do this with Anna it was proof that she was having a good time. Some people laughed when they were nervous and uncomfortable, but that wasn't his friend. She laughed when she was having a good time, and he loved her laugh. As he was running away from her in the water, Jack hit a small dip, which made him lose his balance a bit. Jack got a big surprise when the next thing he knew, Anna's arms were around his neck and she was dragging him down. Jack twisted to make sure he wouldn't land on top of her, but he fell on his back into the water. It wasn't super deep where they were, but he did get entirely wet. "Anna," he laughed as he spluttered her name, splashing water in her face. "I'm so proud of you!" He considered her "water attack" a personal success. ANNA LEISLE LARSEN

Jack admitted that he was proud of her after she had dragged him under water, an unfortunate circumstance of her dragging him under, was that she got entirely wet too.She hadn't been planning on doing so today, but she had agreed to a water fight before they even got to the beach, so she wasn't sure what else she should have been expecting. By the time that they had both resurfaced in the shallower water, she realized that she was still wrapped around Jack and got a bit embarrassed as she let him go, she could feel her cheeks going red and hot under the cool beads of ocean water left behind from the brief time spent under water. "I win?" she asked expectantly, biting her lip. JACKSON CARTER FRYE

Jack was laughing, even as Anna pulled away and he smiled at her. Honestly, this was exactly what he loved. Messing around and having fun and she definitely helped him do it. So worth it. Even though he was wet and soaking with salty ocean water, it was definitely worth it. Adding the fact that Anna wasn't normally so determined to take him down ... yeah, this was going great. She asked if she won and Jack narrowed his eyes as he looked at her. "I guess it depends on what the competition was ..." he answered slowly. Jack always had a hard time admitting he lost anything. "I mean, if the competition was about who could get the other the wettest, then sure ... though pulling you with me should give me some points." No, he hadn't pulled her, but back to the not-able-to-lose-gracefully point. "If the competition was to see who could hit the other more times with water, I definitely won," he announced with a proud grin. "So ... I guess we both did!" Yes, that was much better than letting Anna win entirely. Much, much better. ANNA LEISLE LARSEN

He took a while to explain that they had both won and went into detail on how that came to be. Anna laughed and rolled her eyes, she should have expecting Jack would find a way to not loose. She wasn't mad about it, why would she be? She knew her friend and knew what he was like. It was just a challenge for another day. One day she's win - maybe when he wasn't expecting it or aware that they were competing. "Whatever." Anna gave up with a giggle and dragged herself out of the ocean and back onto the beach, where she plopped herself down on her back, propping herself up on her elbows. It was a nice view, almost any place on the island sported a lovely view, she supposed that was the point of living on an island. It was almost magical. "Can we end the competition for today then?" she asked while catching her breath. JACKSON CARTER FRYE

Jack wasn't at all surprised that Anna rolled her eyes when he started to give his excuses. Truth was, she took him by surprise and if he was being fair, she did win. But ... Jack was not a good loser, so unless she was going to push the fact that she won, he was going to take it as a win for him. He followed her as she slowly walked out of the ocean and plopped down on the beach. "End the competition?" he asked with wide eyes, still teasing her. "But what about those sand castles we were going to build? And trying to see who can find the most seashells?" He stuck his lower lip out in a pout, but that lasted all of three seconds and he was laughing. "Yeah, that's fine Anna." He laid down next to where she was sitting, his hands resting underneath his head as he looked up at the sky. "Thanks for being such a good sport," he said after a few minutes of uncharacteristic silence. He liked how Anna went along with him and just let him be silly. It was nice to have a friend like that. Don’t get her wrong, Anna loved competition as much as Jack did, but she was also a fairly lazy person and the race had just about killed her mojo for anything else that required energy for the day. She still had to talk home later. Her legs shook at just the thought. Could she ever stand again? Only time would tell. He teased her for a second, which she had zero energy to recognize and then he gave in and actually thanked her for being a good sport. She scoffed at that. “You’re just lucky I was unprepared. Next time I wouldn’t get your hopes up.” she teased back. After a second, she tilted her head up. “The sun feels nice.” it felt like it was perpetually summer on this island, she supposed that’s what Islands were supposed to be, weren’t they? Jack laughed when Anna said he was lucky she was unprepared. "Uhhh, no offense Anna, but aren't you always unprepared?" he teased, leaning away from her, since he expected her to try and whack him. It was deserved, but he thought the joke was funny. He still had too much energy for his own good. He'd have to figure out a way to get rid of some of that before he drove his friend completely mad. She really was a good sport, and not just because she was willing to participate in his adventures. She also put up with his craziness, which he definitely appreciated. He sighed, looking up at the sky. "Yeah, it does feel nice." It always felt nice, but that wasn't a bad thing. Still, there was a part of Jack that longed for other weather, for snow instead of just fair skies. There was a hint of that wishing in his voice. ANNA LEISLE LARSEN
