Today Flynn made his way around the forest, checking to make sure his maps were accurate. So far, everything was exactly where it should be and he was quite proud of himself. Tomorrow he'd have to stay at his cottage to work on how the maps looked. Most people, when they came to him, wanted a map they could take with them right away. So he'd need to make sure his was color coded correctly and make a few copies. Then again, maybe he'd head out and make his maps somewhere else. Now, he was almost done and decided to stop by one of his favorite places on his way home. Swan Lake was a pretty place and one where Flynn could truly relax. He stepped out of the trees, surprised when he saw someone sitting on the bench. He stared for a moment, surprised to see someone there, especially a young woman. He stepped forward, coughing before offering a sly smile. "Hello. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen you here before. I'm Flynn Rider," he introduced himself smoothly, offering a hand as he approached her. JANE MARIE PORTER

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WAS SAVED BY A FLYING, WILD MAN IN A LOIN CLOTH [attr="class","next"] Jane spent most of her time in the forest, drawing the wildlife that would scurry past her or would even stop and do something long enough for her to get a quick sketch. She was very skilled in dealing with moving objects of her interest as she drew them with charcoal, her favorite medium to use. Today, her eyes were on a group of swans within Swan Lake, somewhat ironic wasn’t it. Seated on a bench not far from the water, she began to sketch out the beautiful creature as they moved around the lake. She knew not to get close because they were so beautiful didn’t mean they were the most delightful creatures in the animal kingdom. Her tongue stuck out, her eyes flashing between paper and creature, she didn’t even see the person coming out of nowhere. His coughing noise made her jump slightly, her hand ruining the perfect line that she was drawing. Luckily for her, all she needed to do to fix it was to blend with her finger. Flynn Rider, while his name held no mystery about him nor did his sly smile and outstretched hand, Jane simply smiled a pleasant smile and took said hand. Giving it a shake, forgetting the black charcoal that was on her hand that most likely had rubbed onto his own. “Jane Porter and this would be my first time to the lake,” she said with a bit of an English accent.

The girl jumped a little when Flynn coughed, but continued what she was doing for a few moments before turning to acknowledge him. He wasn't offended by this, since he was interrupting whatever it was that she was doing ... wait ... was she drawing? He stepped forward and looked a little closer at the canvas before turning his attention back to her. She took his hand and introduced herself as Jane Porter, saying this was her first time to the lake. Flynn smiled. "Well I'm impressed. Most people don't come into the forest unless they get a map for me or ask me to show them how to get somewhere." Meaning, this girl was braver than most he'd ran into, which Flynn found intriguing. "So did you come out here to find a place to draw?" he asked curiously, gesturing to her drawing. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable, he was truly curious. "Mind if I sit next to you?" he asked, smiling and gesturing to the bench beside her. JANE MARIE PORTER

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WAS SAVED BY A FLYING, WILD MAN IN A LOIN CLOTH [attr="class","next"] Jane laughed when he said he was impressed, not that it bothered her, but quickly added that people didn’t usually wander into the forest without a map or guidance from him. She was a little offended by this, but that was other people not her, she was an independent woman and didn’t need help from anyone, no matter their gender. She shrugged her shoulders, “Guess I’m not ‘many people’ than,” she began before adding “Plus, I don’t think the forest is that big and confusing. And if I get lost, it just means more time to draw and explore.” This all was said with a soft, but determined, smile on her face. She returned to her work, looking back at the swan as she began to fill in areas that she missed due to its movement. But he was quick to speak once more, bringing up her drawing. Without missing a beat, or even looking at him when he asked if he could sit, she spoke. “I didn’t come looking for a place, I came looking for wildlife. But to answer your question, to an extent, yes. Nature is a real beauty, and the forest is the best place to find something of exquisite beauty. As for sitting, yes, but do be careful not to hit my arm… charcoal is very hard to fix once it’s on the painting.”

Flynn smiled and nodded when the woman said she wasn't most people and that the forest wasn't that confusing. "I feel the same way. I enjoy the solitude and the chance to explore. Not that I don't like people, there's just ... something about the peace here that I quite enjoy." Flynn was positive he wasn't explaining himself well, but there wasn't much he could do about it. "Do you draw often then?" He assumed the answer was yes, but he might as well try to get to know her a bit more. She explained that she was looking for wildlife and his eyebrows rose with interest. "So creatures interest you more than portraits of the landscape?" Maybe he'd be able to show her some places that held creatures she'd be interested in. He knew a meadow where lots of wildlife gathered. She would probably enjoy somewhere like that. He sat when she said he could, but made sure to put plenty of space between them so he wouldn't hit her. "I'll be careful," he promised. "It looks really good," he told her, a little of his awe probably showing in his voice. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing though. Maybe she wouldn't think of him as a bother if he appreciated her work. JANE MARIE PORTER
